Dont know location, W Scotland could be. Or South Wales. Total wild guess, boat is an Yngling, sail number GBR1, the one sailed competitively by Nicole Johnson, Jane Norris and Jo Line?

Well done - it was somewhere round the NW tip of Mull.
We were sailing in a friends boat from Tobermory to Iona in the summer and there was a race with maybe 50 yachts out of Tobermory going anticlockwise around Mull.
I took quite a few photos and if anyone knows who organised this race I would be happy to send them copies

Sure it was NW Mull? The "somewhere" is a bit worrying. Are you the navperson?

Still think it's Burg. And Claymore agrees - it's the big headland opposite Bunessan.

You were probably watching the Round Mull Race organised by Oban Sailing Club - www.obansailingclub.org.

The boat is an H-boat - this one has a red hull! You'll find GBR1 listed in the results list on the web site.

Entry forms for 2005 available online. Send me a PM if you want more info.

Hmm
I tried to make it fit with the headlands behind Gometra and Ulva but I think there is more evidence of habitation around there and the darker land to the left doesn't fit there - also the outcrop running out from the shore would seem to suggest (from my ailing memory) that area above the Ross of Mull and due East(?) of Staffa

I think we're on to something here. There's a long bit of coastline from the farm at the foot of the NW side of Ben More (is it Cruban - need to check the OS), and the white cottage on the SW side of Burg. I think it looks awfie like that area, near McKinnon's cave, or is it McCulloch's tree (the old petrified one) - or both.
