Two into One

I've been given an early duo prop volvo drive. Lucky me eh! Any way what I want to do is take off the 280 drive and install the duo unit. But it won't go into the existing transom shield. Does anybody know if I can just swop over the lower gear case as they seem to be the same at the mating faces. Are the drive shafts etc all in the same positions and all the other things like oilways

If you know or you have done this, I would be grateful for any info

Does go. Talking to a guy today who's a bit of an authority on the green heaps and red dreads aka Volvo's.

He reckons that it will not be a problem putting the early duo prop gear case onto the 280sp unit. He informs me that the only difference between the two is the gearcase. So guess what I'm going to be doing this weekend if the weather doesn't perk up a bit.
