Kids were on half term and I managed to get some time off work; forecast looked good. so down to Chichester we headed on Thursday morning. Loaded up the boat, checked out the engines etc and we're ready to go shortly after midday.
The weather really was great, I even had to take my jumper off /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif The water was so flat calm, I had to slow down a bit more than usual through the harbour to keep the wash down.
Headed out towards the IOW and my son decided it was time to try some fishing.
(that really is my son, not my daughter - he needs a haircut /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif )
We had planned to return to Chichester that evening and come out again in the morning but the plan was changed and we decided to move round to Cowes and spend the night there. By now the sea was starting to look a little less flat /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Time to batten down the hatches /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Ryde with the sun going down
More fishing
No fish, unfortunately - this skipper really is hopeless /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Someone's pride and joy off overseas.
Spent a pleasant evening tied up at Shepards Marina. The only problem was that my Generator decided to pack up just as we settled down to watch a film /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif It had done this to me before and it turned out to be a burnt out impeller (at least that's what the guy from Peters told me - remember them - I'm not very mechanical so I have to believe him). Anyway, it was too late to start messing about trying to fix it that night. Next morning, I checked the seawater strainer and it was clean - bu99er, that means the problem is somewhere else. With that I was completely out of ideas so I had to leave it for another time.
Anyway, we eventually set off to make our way slowly back to Chichester. As we headed out, we saw this ugly brute headed (I assume) to Southampton.
Weather was, if anything, better than yesterday. Daughter helmed us most of the way
Just look at that crystal clear sky /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Dropped the hook and had some lunch - time for a spot of sunbathing
Nice bit of rafting
Apparently, she's recently had a refit so maybe they were testing out the new bits and pieces. Best not to get too close /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Then it was back up the harbour towards Chichester. There were still one or two people at East Head
It was great not having to duck and dive through all the racing dinghies. Although one small yacht still managed to change course late and sail right across my bow causing me to have to slow and alter course - luckily there was a lot of empty water all around us /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
We tied up back in the marina and then this chap (or could have been a chapess) came to visit
Spent the night on board again and then headed off to my parent's on Saturday for a family party. All in all a great couple of days enjoying some autumn boating.
