Kids were on half term and I managed to get some time off work; forecast looked good. so down to Chichester we headed on Thursday morning. Loaded up the boat, checked out the engines etc and we're ready to go shortly after midday.

The weather really was great, I even had to take my jumper off /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif The water was so flat calm, I had to slow down a bit more than usual through the harbour to keep the wash down.

Headed out towards the IOW and my son decided it was time to try some fishing.

(that really is my son, not my daughter - he needs a haircut /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif )

We had planned to return to Chichester that evening and come out again in the morning but the plan was changed and we decided to move round to Cowes and spend the night there. By now the sea was starting to look a little less flat /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

More fishing

No fish, unfortunately - this skipper really is hopeless /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Someone's pride and joy off overseas.

Spent a pleasant evening tied up at Shepards Marina. The only problem was that my Generator decided to pack up just as we settled down to watch a film /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif It had done this to me before and it turned out to be a burnt out impeller (at least that's what the guy from Peters told me - remember them - I'm not very mechanical so I have to believe him). Anyway, it was too late to start messing about trying to fix it that night. Next morning, I checked the seawater strainer and it was clean - bu99er, that means the problem is somewhere else. With that I was completely out of ideas so I had to leave it for another time.

Anyway, we eventually set off to make our way slowly back to Chichester. As we headed out, we saw this ugly brute headed (I assume) to Southampton.

Weather was, if anything, better than yesterday. Daughter helmed us most of the way

Just look at that crystal clear sky /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Dropped the hook and had some lunch - time for a spot of sunbathing

Nice bit of rafting

Apparently, she's recently had a refit so maybe they were testing out the new bits and pieces. Best not to get too close /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Then it was back up the harbour towards Chichester. There were still one or two people at East Head

It was great not having to duck and dive through all the racing dinghies. Although one small yacht still managed to change course late and sail right across my bow causing me to have to slow and alter course - luckily there was a lot of empty water all around us /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We tied up back in the marina and then this chap (or could have been a chapess) came to visit

Spent the night on board again and then headed off to my parent's on Saturday for a family party. All in all a great couple of days enjoying some autumn boating.

You obviously spent a lot of time and effort putting this post together. - shame you used a web site that needs a password to access the photos, so that nobodyelse can get to see the piccies. Most of us use photobucket for this reason.

Strange, I've used this site before for posting photo's on here /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif The settings must have changed - I'll investigate later - just off out now.

EDIT: I've just realised what has changed - I must have added a password to my site, doh! Undone now.

Great report and fantastic piccies thanks!. Reminds me of how much I miss the Solent. Doubt whether I`ll down that way til next Easter now but at least its something to look forward to. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Fab pics. Just been out today with the kids and conditions were very similar. Went across to Cowes for lunch - reasonably busy but plenty of room everywhere (though the Anchor was full by the time we got there). SWMBO is away at the moment, so we managed to get away without visiting either Fat Face or White Stuff /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Probably the last run of the season as the boat is almost certainly coming out on Friday (my insurers don't like small boats on swinging moorings in the winter).

Hey ho.........

Great post, thanks for sharing the pictures.
That "Ugly Brute" looks like the "Carabian Highway" saw her today leaving Royal Portbury Dock (look it up!) if it was the same ship?
By the way, SWMBO say the swan is a "he" you can tell by the bump on his beak. One of them buggers pecked me the other day!
