Not FMYC. FMYC is a good marina with friendly, helpful people who go out of their way but its a long way to walk from there especially if it is raining as opposed to 10 meters from a gate

Isn't this FMYC only about 300m (about 3 min walk) from said general store?

When in your car do you park three hundred meters from your local co-op/Tesco express and walk or would you get as close as you could. It was not the distance because that was my second option, I did not expect to be treated like that by a club that is a member of the RYA and also a club that in the past I belonged to. There are two types of people you will meet every day of your life. Those who make your day a little bit better and those who make you day a little bit worse

It was not busy. Just the guy sweeping the entrance doors.
Many thanks for the extra detail, it sounds like you couldnt have been more considerate in your approach. Will bring it to the attention of the commodore. Many apologies that you were treated like this, its not really good enough.

I really would not worry too much as having experience in life I know we have our fair share of grumpy old bastards, in this country . What would mortify me is if it were a Dutch visitor (as we have quite a few boats running up and down the Orwell)
What impression would they take back to Holland of the uk boating community. You can imagine the conversation in their club bar.
