One word.....

DIGIBOX

£35 at Woolworths and It'll run on a cheap inverter.

result: Perfect picture or No picture. Then there's the extra channels of course.

Correct - and not all arials work - and the coverage is not as great as you are led to beleive.

Saying that - we live outside the area - put one in my youngests room and she can get the BBC channels perfectly.

"Not all aerials work".....We got a better result with a 6' length of wire carelessly strung across the boat with freeview than using a branded boat aerial on analogue.

Not suggesting you go the bit of wire route, but freeview reception has been v.impressive, faltering only at low springs on some channels.

Search my recent posts re. aerial type/positioning.

Re: One word.....

Yes but it needn't be anything special. We had OnDigital 's second consumer account in the UK so have had a box for a long time Our boat aerial was a Glomex atop an extending brush handle cable-tied to the taffrail and the picture was perfect all over the Solent and as far west as Torquay. NOTHING will better the picture and you won't get multiple shadow images from other boats' masts.

A lot of London flat dwellers use digiboxes now. Our two sons have one each in the flat they share in London. Incidentally, one of those on offer uses a plugtop 12volt power supply so it would work directly from the ship's supply without an inverter.

you could get a plug adapter and use the vhf antenna, disconnected from vhf, for the tv. improper antenna will not hurt a tv or radio as long as no transmitting energy present. will either help or not.
