Has anyone used one on the boat as in the wall mounted tilt/swivel type that screw into the back of flatscreen? I'm not sure how it would cope in stormy weather?
I have the Chart Plotter and Echo sounder mounted on a plywood panel held by a Tesco £24 tv mount.
Apart from having to tighten the swivel bolts on a regular basis. (Hint, replace supplied bold with hex heads and keep a suitable spanner handy) the whole thing works really well.
I swing out the plotter and echo sounder into the companionway while sailing and it pushes back easily when required.
The mount I have swings and tilts which is quite handy to avoid glare.
We try and avoid stormy weather but it has certainly coped with the river Blackwater, wind over tide gusting 31 knots without any issues.
Yes - we have such a thing and have had no problems. The mount allows the screen to swivel left, right, up and down. On passage it has the memory map charts and at other times the TV - been through lots of rough passages, and doesn't move. The mount is on a plate that is attached to the pole by u-bolts. By adjusting the u-bolts, we can alter the vertcial position as well.
