My boat is 18 months old now & I had the rig last tuned just over a year ago. Should I get it done soon? How often does it need retuned bearing in mind its a Bennie cruiser, and I sail it most weekends?

yes definitely it will need it.
Have you noticed a change in sailing performance or in the rig at all?
the race boys tune and retune all the time.
do you intend diy. you should have a word with a freindly rigger for a bit of advice then i would just play around and see what works best.

Come on brain.get this over and i can go back to killing you with beer

Think you're right. I'm intending to get an emergency forestay fitted so I'll try to get the riggers to tune the rig & show me what to look out for at the same time.

When your sailing, have a look up the mast with your eye close to the base of the mast. If you see and drop off of the mast to either side, its time to call the rigger in. We tune our rig about once a month and have a rigger inspect it annually.
