Tug names

I don't know the answer to your question but I do love some of the tug names.

Thrax, Thor, Avenger and Goliath are some that I have seen. Lovely masculine, strong names.

Humphrey Lyttleton had a good tug joke:

Samantha can't be here tonight, she is busy entertaining her new gentleman friend. He likes to play with his collection of toy boats in the bath.
She thought about it long and hard and decided to give him a little tug.

This lifeboat stood by The Flying Enterprise for many hours after relieving the Lizard boat which was low on fuel. Rough going for the crew in an open boat, the account states that a rescue helicopter had to turn back due to the severe weather. [image]

When I was a boy growing up on Clydeside, tugs had names like CAMPAIGNER, CHIEFTAIN, CRUISER, STRONGBOW, THUNDERER, WARRIOR, WRESTLER and VANGUARD. Tough names for tough boats. Not so sure about 'OCEAN COCK' though! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

On the Thames there used to be a tug called Moorcock. You can imagine the call to a ship with a female name. Then again we had 2 ships in recently called Fanny and Willy. Let your imagination run!
