You will find the site is slow to load but plenty of pictures do that ,I suggest get the page up then put the kettle on to give it time to load.

Yes Byron you and every one else.
Bet I get plenty of room in Thames locks in the summer .
Mind you as yet I don't yet know what to put around the sides ,it did have chains that went right under the hull !! .
Rope fenders are very expensive but may be the best answer.
One other thing I still need a name for it ,suppose if I cough up Mars bars for a prize a suitable name may be put forwards.

Thanks Mick, it was good to look at the website. I reckon Tuggie will be sailing before Privateer (which is still a she IMHO, despite the name).

Where do you get your steel? I have made lots of trailers some years ago (not massive ones, the largest was 4 wheel for up to 22 feet boats) and always used rectangular hollow section rather than channel, but I always found it expensive when bought as new stock.

You are definitely right that the key to a good boat trailer is getting the boat as low as possible. Some of my earlier ones were terrible but later I moved on to those roller coaster rollers, no central "spine" under the keel, instead an A frame design with the centre supports all in bent hollow section, to get the boat really low

Keep us up to date!

I couldn't call it that don't you think it's a bit girly to call a tug a name like that .I mean it just wouldn't be right giving it a name like that .
No offence or pun intended .Getting desperate though re name as it will have to be registered very soon .
Keep thinking the right name will just ,well be right wont it .

I just cant go past a pile of scrap with out having a good rummage .
The handrails for the tug came from the scrap pile .
All the steel used on the trailer was so called scrap ha never not with me around .
I got another boat a while back it's 22.6 long and the trailer towed quite happy at shall we say the legal limit .
Only draw back with the trailer is it's quite narrow and the pair of side supports did get in the way for the cabin cruiser .
Next job for the trailer was loads of big packing cases which once taken apart are just right to line the inside of the shed. You should have seen it ha ha , lucky I'm out in the sticks.

Because I'm the rough and ready type the sort who looks evil and so I'm told like I'm a dept collector.
Mind you a bloody good looking rough and ready type of bloke !!
Although I have done the odd bit of dept collecting I don't normally these days as the left hook aint wat it used ta be.
Your right it's a nice name but not one for me tug ,
Actually because of your picture I'd thought of calling it Mistress but there's been to many of those in the past so maybe not !!.
