I need to make up a new bearing in tufnol (prefer the PTFE type) and want to buy a small sheet- no more than 300 x 300mm. Anyone know a supplier in S Wales or West Country (or online)?

What an interesting post!

How do you make a bearing out of a sheet and what is PTFE tufnol?!

If you describe the end product, I can suggest a source. Tufnol is expensive and PTFE is soft but there are many alternatives.

More details please.

I don't have the exact dimensions here, but I need to make up a squarish block approx 150mm/side with a 1 1/4" hole drilled at an angle of about 15 degrees through the sheet. I will not be sure of the thickness until I take the old piece off in October, but its probably 10-15mm thick.
I can drill the aperture accurately.
This stabilises my rudder shaft where it goes through the (wooden) deck. My preferred material is TUFNOL Grade 2F/3/PTFE (the old piece in the Tufnol Bear brand)

If you cant get tufnol what about lignum vitae( I think thats how you spell it!!) A specialist timber supplier will have it, probably better than tufnol.also called "axe breaker" for obvious reasons, used for prop shaft bearings on ships, or used to be.
