Tube / frost heater - where from on high street?

Can I suggest you forget tube heaters as they are in-efficient

Oi!
There's no way an electrical heater can be inefficient. The only way it can lose heat is, er, as heat.

Discuss....

Maybe - but when I compare my B&Q job as above at 200W and the tube heater fitted boats I know - I can decide quite easily which is doing it's job better.
The only advantage I see with the tube heater is its shape and able to be fitted into bottoms of lockers or under engine. But consider also that I don't have to buy extra guard or cover for the B&Q jobbie - AND it has a built in regulator - sorry no contest...... all for a tenner ?

Got a 200w frost heater from B&Q, and a small oil heater also (only £12 each), seems they are Warehouse stores only.

Anyway took them down to boat only to find that one of the pontoon elec works, and that if I want elec on board I need to run my own cable about 200m to where there are 4 outlets for about 40 boats. They are all spilt and splity again, and it seems the livaboards take a dim view of anyone else usingt incase it trips out.

So thanks for the suggestions, and next time I put the boat somewhere for the winter I will check that the elec actually works first!

That is something that I would be dead against. Sorry but if I pay for a facility - then I have right to use.

In HYCO - there were stands on the pontoons but also the old shed with limited outlets. We used to all put our pound coins in the slot meter. Ok - odd times you'd go down to boat and find your cable unplugged while another was using. But it worked. Once the stands went in - it was better because most wanted g'teed supply by own socket - meant the shed was not so demanded.

Maybe have word with yard who provide the pontoon / electric and have own metered supply ?
