Hello all - long-time lurker, first-time poster.

I'm in the middle of renovating a Sea Wych 19 that, whilst new to me, was originally put together in about 1970. I'm trying to track down its history. The latest I've been able to get back, so far, is the chap who owned it at around the turn of the century. He mentioned that there was an article in PBO in - he thinks - 1972 about the SW, and that the boat featured in the article was the same one (sail number SW16) that I am now in possession of.

I know there was an article in PBO in 1975 (when the boat was featured on the cover) and am trying to track down the owners of the two boats featured in that one - although, given the age, it's more a case of tracking down their offspring now. And through an eBay seller I've found the contents pages of all of issues that year, but none scream "Sea Wych".

Rather than buy all the issues only to find that none of them are relevant, what are the chances anyone has, or has access to, PBO from 1972 and would be able to make me very happy by having a run through them to see if there is an article somewhere within their pages? Or, potentially, confirm that the previous owner had mis-remembered the year.

Thanks in advance!

A good few years ago a member of the old Sea Wych Owners Association (SWOA) attempted to compile a register of Sea Wyches.
I believe the information she collected is now in the hands of Richard (Rick) Bowen who was president of the SWOA in its final years .
He is a member of the Seawych Boat Owners & Small Boat Owners Facebook group, to which you also belong, so maybe an enquiry there would produce some relevant information. Perhaps you could contact Rick via that group.

Your boat does not appear in the earliest of my membership lists ( 1983)

Thanks - as you say, I'm in that group, but despite having tagged Richard in a post (and dropped him a personal message) I've been unable to elicit a reply from him.

Many Libraries, or at least some, hold copies of PBO and YM (or at least our Maritime Museum Library in Sydney does).

Ask PBO/YM which libraries in the UK subscribe - might be a start. They are only a phone call away.

Broaden your search.
