Enjoyed our mini cruise till today. Moored at Higgins Park , had a stroll, spoke to a few boaters. One old chap on his own in a little boat with loads of electronic stuff come round from Sarfend ! Got 8 stitches in a nasty cut on his hand then his little Spaniel fell in.
Mussels at the George and Dragon, stroll back to boat for a swift night cap , lovely, with me so far? Good. Anyway, 0300 , the Germans on the hire boat in front decide to drop the anchor! Lights on and we are now to bow. 5 am someone is driving along the footpath, bin men? No bins still full.
0545 Marlow RC decide to launch 2 sculls and the much loved "training" launch. Thrown about the boat, trying to convince the wife that the cleats are in fact still attached to the boat.
She then points to the wet patch on the duvet and I deny any responsibility, to no avail as water is running in through the temporary repair the window man has done. So cast off in high dudgeon up stream.
Not even Dave at Temple can lighten the mood, so glum are we.
Sorry Simon, no comment!!
Nigel seems to have come out on his day off to help the volunteer sort out a downstream log jam at Marsh. Only a 3 lock wait.
Shiplake is on self service at 11 30 and no less than 6 Le Boats upstream with a rowing 4 from Switzerland in the mix just for fun. Oh yes and 2 more approaching the cut at speed.
Best despatch the wife to sort them out, mood she's in I'm not going. Sure enough, that did it. Quick lesson in button pushing and things are moving forward! Get through and out of the way as Salter's join the party.
So apart from both Waeco fridges , yes both, not working properly, just another lovely day on the Thames!!
