We have just sold our property in the SoF; the living costs are spiralling out of control, I recon 25-30% more than uk in the supermarkets.
A cheap lunch off 'Le menu' can't be had for less than €20, soon adds up for a family out for the day.
By contrast we're on holiday near Malaga and it's much cheaper than uk even on the full tourist track. Up in the mountains it's comedy cheap (offset by having wounded the hire car twice)
Interesting, i'd noticed that billionaires quai in Antibes has been quite empty so far this year, but didn't know why.

Doesnt surprise me if St Tropez is empty. The booking system is shite. We wanted to visit late last September and tried to book a berth online and by phone and twice were told no the harbour was full. We decided to anchor in the bay next door and went in to St Tropez by dinghy to find the place almost empty which really pissed me off. When I went into the capitannerie to ask why we were refused a berth when the place was empty, they just shrugged. In the end we were told we could berth in the harbour if we wanted and because my guests were keen to be parked in St Tropez we did in the end berth there. But if my experience of St Tropez is typical I'm not surprised boaters are getting fed up with the place

Thats fine but if the website booking system says the place is full then youre not going to go there to pay the €200Mike in St Trop every body want and expects a "nibble " @ the Capitaneries --€200 on top normaly arranged by a another guy .
Mmm, you have a point there Pete. It seems to happen everywhere I goAm I alone in thinking this downturn has only happened since you arrived Mike.
Well, it didn't happen down here, fwiw - if anything, the opposite...Mmm, you have a point there Pete. It seems to happen everywhere I go![]()
I'm also a bit surprised, wasn't there some mass arrests in St Trop and Toulon not so long ago due to corruption? (Something about boat permis)
