trouble engaging forward gear !

Hi all, having aproblem with the throttle control . Starboard side only 1990 Fairline Targa VP AQAD41 duo prop .
Moving the throttle forward the revs come up, but its reluctant to engage and when it does its with a small clunk Any advise would be great.Steve

Assuming cables correctly adjusted- Common cause is too much oil in the leg, or water in it (which raises the oil level)
Other than that your clutch cones had it.

You have to remove the cover on the back of the leg, put it into forward gear, then disconnect the gear cable and check that the shift arm is in the forward gear detent, if so do the cable and clevis line up, if not then adjust the brass spigot along the cable, the same applies to reverse gear so check cable travel both ways while you are at it. And make sure that when in neutral the shift is in the neutral detent or the cones will be partially engaged and wear prematurely.
If all is OK then as Volvopaul says its a new clutch.
