Hopefully the top of the aluminium exhaust horn is not corroded to much where it comes into contact with the hose , usually under the the hose clip.
Horn will be almost impossible to remove from the transom assembly due to age .
Apparently the carbon in the hose is not friends with aluminium.
However hope is at hand at least for your diesel and it works.
Volvo Penta KAD and TAMD 3.5 inch corroded exhaust repair kit, Part Number 3581114
The elbow might be iron but the exhaust horn was usually alloy. ???

Because if your welder can’t do the job....you need a plan BHonest question : What relevance has that part to my problem ?
The hole is in the cast iron elbow ...
Because if your welder can’t do the job....you need a plan B
Since there might have been some pooling of water causing the corrosion (if I recall correctly a previous post from you) then I would think about stainless steelPlan B is to buy a new elbow - which is nothing like 'oldgits' alloy one.
surface where the gasket fits looks rather tired, maybe pass it twice on a lathe to flatten it? unless it's the pic lighting playing tricks...Repaired elbow ... reckon repair will outlast the engine !! 67 euros.

Ordered new gasket in case we cannot make one ...

weld looks solid though!
I used a belt sander with a cause grit paper to remove the old gasket and cleanup the flange
I'm sure the engineer will sort !!![]()
Engineer is a totally misunderstood and misused term.
Would never trust anyone who clams they are an " Engineer "
Unless you are a chef ...I have to be careful here .... I was a Deck Officer and there was always the saying "Oil and Water do not mix" ...............
