Trouble comes in threes !!

Now it’s out....can you get (or fabricate) a new part ?
Just stick a patch on it about 5 mins and £50.00 .
Hopefully the top of the aluminium exhaust horn is not corroded to much where it comes into contact with the hose , usually under the the hose clip.
Horn will be almost impossible to remove from the transom assembly due to age .
Apparently the carbon in the hose is not friends with aluminium.
However hope is at hand at least for your diesel and it works.

The elbow is cast iron ... not alluminium. This is a Volvo Penta AQ170 ... based on the old 3 litre 6 cyl Volvo 164 car engine.

Plan B is to buy a new elbow - which is nothing like 'oldgits' alloy one.
Since there might have been some pooling of water causing the corrosion (if I recall correctly a previous post from you) then I would think about stainless steel

Lifter ... the electric drive motor is still in repair shop ... waiting them.

Spoke with VP guys in Riga just in case Lifter still not working after workshop .. they reckon they have parts ..... mmmmmm lets be optinistic !!

I have to be careful here .... I was a Deck Officer and there was always the saying "Oil and Water do not mix" ...............

Yes I agree

I do understand that there is a distinct difference in the accountable. responsibility between Deck officers and Ship Engineering Offices.

One of the issues I have is that ship officers who are charged with surveying our small boats like ours really don't. understand the difference

In any case its the Master who is accountable for the safety of the vessel, crew and all on board and no real difference between ships and small boats except the damage they can make to all on the sea.

The ouzo small vessel is a case in point. If she is bigger than you, he has right of way "might is right"
