I need to get some tyres fitted to my dinghy's launching trolly. They are tubed tyres that say 4.80/4.0. The local auto tyre places don't have them- any idea where I could get some tubes and tyres, and better still, get them fitted. Bromley area

You don't want to go to a tyre place, you need a trailer supplier. Indespension are the largest national business. they have a place at Redhill. Isn't that somewhere near you? Click the link

You can buy a new wheel with the tyres on for less than £10 each near me at an independant trailer compny. Probably not any cheaper changing the tyre/inner tube.

Not too far away. Try Sevenoaks tyre depot (An independent family firm). Just off the A25 east of the Bat and Ball traffic lights. A left turn into Mill lane (not Setyres on the right) you should be able to find a phone number for them.

A bit further, Freeway, in St Johns road Tunbridge Wells, just past the dairy and opposite The Skinners School. Again an independent and they will treat you like an intelligent human being, not the piece of sh*t that some of the others will treat you as (St Johns road is the main road from Southborough into T Wells and best avoided at busy times.) I use to go there for all my tyres, MOT etc when I worked in T Wells.

4.80/4.0

[/ QUOTE ] You sure you got that right. Standard small trailer tyres are 4.00 - 8 Ie for 8" wheels.

I did get those for my camping tailer from Sevenoaks tyre Depot.

Also the same size as wheel barrows. They are only 2 ply i think but suitable for lauching trolleys

Have a word with Tony at Danson Marine, Blackfen/Blendon.( 02083045678- closed pm Thursdays) he is very helpful and I reckon you should just buy the whole wheel and tyre as suggested above. By the time you've messed about the cost is little different.

edit:- check the axle hole size

Or are they like These

[/ QUOTE ] I think you'll find the tyres on those are 4.00 - 8. They are 4" across (nominally) and fit an 8" rim. While these are only 15" diameter trailer tyres come out about 16" diam over the tread.
