Not sure how many we'll actually get done, but the main targets are :
1) Shotley to Ramsgate, then over to Dunkerque. Possibly a bit of coast hopping to Ostende, then straight back over to home. I have this idea of maybe dropping anchor off of Dunkerque and running the tender up the beach.
2) Long weekend to Dover (or maybe overnight at Ramsgate). Motor down, say Sat morning, spend Sat and Sun night and motor back Monday. Spending the time there eating, drinking, fishing and looking at some different coast line.
3) A second Thames cruise. Did it in 2010, want to do it better. We planned it 3 or 4 times and the weather conspired against us. Then we did it in Sept, at very short notice. The tides were not ideal, we punched the tide all the way there and back. We arrived close to low water and the only marina we could get into was Gallions Point (run by the Dingles). We came back a day sooner than we planned.
Next time, motor down on Sat and lock into St Kats early evening. Meal, drink and a walk around in the evening. Sun morning, motor down to maybe Teddington, generally chill and be back at St Kats for more eating drinking and sight seeing. Steady motor back Monday.
All will obviously be weather dependant, the Thames trip will be the hardest to plan, due to the narrow lock windows at St Kats.
1/ I recon that Limehouse is a better bet access much better ( a larger tidal window ) will also help in continuing up river
2/ cheaper ( large discount for club events )
Hi Paul
they sound like great plans.
we have done St Kats several times and always enjoyed it there, dont know if the teddington plan will work though, you wont get much time there on the same tide.
great pics of your last trip up the thames.
when are you thinking about ramsgate ? best off locking into the inner harbour as it gets a bit dirty and bumpy outside.
do you ever get down the crouch ?

Paul we might substitute our bruge trip for st kats also like the teddington idea just got to find somewhere there to stay overnight.
Agree with Limehouse! We paid the rally rate of £17 a night in 2008.
It is only a couple of stops extra on tube and so much more peaceful.
No firm plans about Ramsgate (or any of the others), every time we planned last year, the weather was poo. Not sure whether to do Ramsgate or Dover. Would like to see a bit of that coast, so either would do. Was told Dover is a bit of a hairy entrance with all the ferries, so was thinking overnight at Ramsgate for the first night, second day motor down past Dover, then return to Ramsgate.
I wouldn't let the ferries put you off visiting Dover. Unless things have changed recently the Western entrance has only slightly more commercial traffic than Ramsgate. The Eastern entrance is much, much busier but Dover port control will let you know when it safe to enter.
but time on water is limited, Have to work to feed the habit you understand!!
