I'm planning to go to London this may. I think we'll go via Calais.
Any suggestions for the trip? What are the good and nice Marina's to stay in London?

Thank you

I would suggest Calais to Ramsgate, Ramsgate to Saint catherines Yacht harbour, and then you are in the centre of london. Just a bus,cab or underground ride away from all parts. If you need any contact numbers etc PM me

Certainly St Katherine's is the best for character and location.

Try and contact them in advance as Summer is busy for them.

Entry through the lock is from 2 hours before high water London Bridge to 1.5 hrs after HW.

I have done a similar trip back in July 2002.
Started in Loosdrecht finished in Kent.

I would suggest to go inland in Holland and stop in wilimstaetd, one of the nicer marinas I have stayed in for atmosthpere and good food and wine.

I would avoid Belguim alltogther apart from cheap diesel ( you have to book a tanker in most harbours and they do not like to supply less then 1000 liters).

Crossing the chnnel, we lefy oostende and once past Dunkerke just pulled right towards Ramsgate, all was well when we approched Ramsgate so therfore we continued up the thmaes estury,

Really good trip as long as the sea is not too rough ( you do not want an eastrly in the Thames.

By the way St Catrine is only open once a day ! in the Day time

We did the MBM cruise in 2001 from Ramsgate to Zeeland and the route over was Ramsgate to Nieuwpoort for fuel, then next day NP to Vlissingen then into the canal at Vlissingen and up into the Veerse Meer. Return journey was a bit more "fun", we came out of the Schelde making for N\P, but due to bad weather diverted to Blankenberge. Then next stop was Calais (to fill up with wine), then back to Ramsgate (for fuel) and on to the Thames before turning right up to Felixstowe.

We didn't have a problem getting diesel in either Nieuwpoort or Blankeberge (about 500 litres a time) and it was comparable or maybe even cheaper than UK. Hurt a bit though buying it in Holland.

Dan! Of all the marinas in London St Katherines has the edge. Sure, it is a pain getting in and out but once you are in its worth it. There's everything you need within a short walk and if you want to do the sights then there's Cabs, Buses and Tube all nearby. Look out for my boat, It's called Ocean Eagle and I'm in and out of there regularly. To find the marina is easy... straight up the Thames to Tower Bridge, it's just before the bridge on the right. Call sign is St Katherines Haven and they listen on Channel 80. One word of warning, they have an animal that lurks there at night, its called a 'SYD' easily recognisable. You will see it crawling along pontoons like a dying Avon Lady but instead of chirping 'ding dong' it mumbles slurred words like "mines-a-pint" or "who's round is it?" through a mouthful of regurgitated Macdonalds.
