trim tabs question

On my old boat when I used the trim tabs the Port switch operated the stbd tab causing the port side to be lowered in the water. same with the stbd switch which operated the port tab allowing the stbd to be trimmed. I was used to this and it worked well.
On my new boat the port switch operates the port trim tab which basically means press the right switch down and the left side of the boat is lowered. This seems strange to me being used to the old system.
Which way should it be ?

Might be that its been wired wrong and simply switching the wires around would have it working as "normal"..

They do vary apparently!

Some tabs work as you would expect the switches to work, others work as you would expect them to affect the boat, which is quite different.

Apparently some people can't figure what the tab will do when operated...

I have Eltrim tabs on my Sealine.
Port switch does port tab, and cleverly lifts the starboard at the same time. Vice versa.
Look on the Eltrim page of the Trickett marine website.
They also do Lenco. they look to be the same..
I had Bennetts on a Fairline I had, They were either opposite or no indicators I can t remember, only that they were a pain.

I have Bennetts, with the LED indicator. Assembled as per the instructions, the toggle switches work in the same sense as the boat - right switch bow down is roll to the right, which, to me, is correct. The indicator, however, showed the tab position, i.e. the lights were on the left to show that the left tab was down. Even though I'm fully aware of the sense in which the tabs affect the boat, in practice, this is useless information - I only want to know at a glance what trim input I have selected. If I want to increase or remove it, it's obvious what to do, so I swapped the indicator plugs. Now, if I dial in some right bow down, the indicator LEDs by the right toggle switch operate.
