Hi all,

I have an option of buying one of these boats, of which I know little about and I am trying to determine the possible value. The owner is not aware of the make or pedigree of the boat. I have not seen the boat but I have obtained the following details from the owner:

- It has a single 7.5L petrol Mercruiser V8, my interpretation would have been that it had twin engine AQ170's new. However I am told that the engine is a good runner and has been looked after by a marine engineer whom I know of. The owner was not able to tell me what its cruising speed was but said that he was not able to ski off it...

- The owner thinks it was built in 1972

- It has been hand painted white.

- The owner has refitted the interior himself, although I suspect its not to a high standard.

- It is on a custom road trailer

Like I said I am short on information other than what I have read on this forum. Specifically I am trying to determine its value. I really like the style and pedigree of these old offshore racers however.

Thanks for any info you might have.

Thanks mate, I might email them for an idea.

Also should have included that the petrol tank/system needs work and the owner currently runs it from portable fuel tanks.

I owned Sonny for a couple of years fantastic boats but the had very variable build quality as the yards fortunes waxed and waned. None were ever single engined at build. But for the right money could be a great purchase. In the condition you describe 5k maybe?????

Not sure which model she is but para handy, listed on the database in post 2 is currently residing in Weymouth.

Current owner restored her several years ago but he never seems to go out on her, such a waste. Fwiw she's also been converted to single engine. I think it's a large 6cyl mitsibushi turbo diesel with a volvo leg

Thanks for the replies, all great information. Jon - Sonny looks to be a lovely boat. The owner wants a little bit more than 5k (or the euro equivalent) so I appreciate the estimate. Seems cheap for a classic but obviously the amount of money one of these could swallow up could be considerable.

I am waiting on the Engineer who serviced it to get back to me now to talk about the engine and installation before I arrange a viewing.
