I have 3 masts I will be taking down, so need to get 8-10 trestles to support them. Would also be useful if they can take scaffold planks or similar to create a sanding/painting platform for the upper perts of the hull.
Any suggestions as to what/where to source them at a good price? Or whatto search for when looking for secondhand ones?

Sort of thing you might find at Machine Mart, if there is one near you.

Why do you need 8 to 10 tressels

I have 18 meter supported on only 2 which have rollers vee blocks on the top so I can rotate the mast to work on it

My mast is only 9m but I prefer three trestles as I prefer to support it in the middle.

My mast is supported at about 1/4 of the total from each end so anybend i well within the strength of the mast as a beam

If I was supping at each end I would also put a support in th middle to reduce the bending stress in the beam

I also have a 9 meter mast hanging from 2 points under my carport whit no bad effect

I agree its not essential, I just prefer to support it in the middle.

It might be that any set up the does both jobs might not be particularly good at either. The mast supporting job is less critical than the working platform, in terms of dimensions and strength etc. so I'd focus on that, then see if whatever set up you get can also support the masts.

For supporting a mast I bought four plastic garden kneelers which can also be used upside down as stools - or mast supports - that happened to be on end-of-season offer at a supermarket. I didn't feel I needed that many for the mast itself, but it was also be supporting the foresail r/r drum-gear and foil and I didn't want that developing a bend.

You sir, are a genius :)

I think i’ll look for 2-4 trestles/ saw horses then i have something for a painting platform, then get the garden kneelers for the rest, and my wife can have them from the summer for gardening :)

Wife has a plastic garden kneeler which expired due to UV.

I therefore made one in steel with closed cell foam kneel ad

I then made one for the boat and then made one for daughter

Saves knees and helps you to get to your feet easer as you get on in age
