We've generally used Milton for this in the past, and currently using some chlorine tablets. But we've not seen anything similar for sale for a while now and starting to run low.
I've seen chlorine for swimming pools for sale- could this be used, at a suitable dosage?

I use nothing but tap water.
But sterilising solution seems to be readily available in the UK

IMHO it should be safe to use Chlorine tablets meant for pools too, in the correct dosage of course.
Ozone is suppose to be "healthier" for humans, however I am unaware of any such devices for boat tanks.
Oh.. google helped:

We've used supermarket bleach (sodium hypochlorite, concentration was stated on the label), make sure it's not perfumed or mixed with other additives though. We tried tabs for a while, but they leave crumbly bits in the tank as whatever the chlorine is bound with in them didn't fully dissolve.
