Treating engine corrosion

I’ve cleaned it off and now want to paint with heat proof paint should I apply some sort of rust inhibitor/treatment first?

On the assumption that the manufacture knows its product better than anyone else, I would follow the advice on the tin.

I've always had good results using Hanmerite.

I degreased mine with "gunk", wire brushed with a cordless drill, cleaned again, painted with Hammerite No 1 Rust Beater https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hammerite-...90562&hvtargid=pla-2281435176618&gad_source=1 then 2 coats of Hammerite Smooth paint applied by brush. So far it has lasted 20 years..... Edit, just checked, 24 years!

Have a look at a paint called Brantho Kurox 3 in 1. It is used to paint road gritters and navigational buoys. Single pack, no primer and a range of colours. Bullet proof.

People will find it faster if they spell it Brantho-Korrux 3 in 1

Look on ebay for "engine paint" its available in a range of colours and you dont need primer.
