This week, another family needs help choosing a suitable holiday. Matthew (or Nick, Haydn, Chris, Pete, Arthur etc etc) quite likes messing about on water. They happen to have a boat, with all their stuff on, and they've lashed out lots of money on keeping the boat working. Can anyone make any suggestions for a suitable holiday?

You don't say where you're based - I notice frrom one of your other posts you're running a Fairline Targa, so I'm probably looking for the same kind of holiday...

Thanks for your consideration, Matt, but we've had our holiday(s) for this year. In April we were in the UK and Spain (actually overnighted on a sailboat on the Guadiana River) and in May/June we were on a 6-week, 1000nm cruise on our boat to the Florida Keys, Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Grand Bahama, Abacos and back. Remember, Matt, we are retired and not in your mega-wealthy class to be able to afford umpteen holidays/yr. Although you could say that retirement in Florida is one long holiday, I suppose. Anyway, as a suggestion for holidays, what about house/boat swaps: eg you take my house and Sea Ray (parked 5 min walk away in top class marina,(www.longboatkeymoorings.com) close to Gulf of Mex and on ICW) and I take your Leopard. Don't worry about your house, unless it's located somewhere warm. What do you think? Or what does anyone else think about the idea, for that matter.

p.s.

Matt, I wonder if I correctly understood your original missive.
I was in Atlanta painting our son's bathroom and may have been under the influence of paint solvent1

Re: gag backfired

Um. The original post was poking fun at the fact that once you/we have a boat, it's often difficult to logically choose any holiday other than on the boat. But all the helpful types here treated it seriously and wanted to help. Sorry.

Your boat swap idea might be worth pursuing.
