I am looking into having my 36ft Yacht transported to Greece. I have emailed a few companies but as yet have not received a reply with regards to costings. Can anyone advise me with regards cost & good companies etc.

Why transport a yacht? UK yacht prices are far higher than in the Med, so If you don't have the time/inclination to sail your yacht to Greece, then you might as well sell your yacht in the UK, thereby saving the transport costs and instead buy an equivalent replacement at a lower cost in Greece; you win twice. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I paid a a delivery skipper to sail my 34 footer to Greece 3 years ago at a cost of about £3k. I also went along as 1st mate for the sea miles. Took 5 weeks Poole - Lefkas and I had a great time. Road ruled out as transport thru Albania and Balkan states etc was not considered a safe option.
IF you go down this route - check out the skipper you use carefully. I wont name the skipper I used because he was "banged up" in Gibraltar accused of smuggling cocaine on a subsequent delivery just 12 months later. BTW - Charges were dropped and I thought he was a great skipper and companion so no slight on his character intended - just a word to the wise /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Not sure if this helps but here goes:
When we bought our boat she was in the North Eastern Adriatic coast of Italy.
The best price we were quoted for road transport was by Van de Wetering - a Dutch company that do a large number of trips from North West Europe to the Med and beyond. there prices are good as they tend to manage to do return trips with a load rather than having to cost in for being empty.
For a 24 ton 44 ft motorsailer, we were quoted €7000 to be transported from Portorz in Slovenia (their nearest pick up point to where we bought the boat) to Breskens in Holland (the nearest point to us on the other side of the Channel/North Sea).
We chose the other side as it costs a fortune for a boat on a trailer to get from the Continent to the UK.
You will see from their website here that they do have destinations in Greece.

Yes, the Slovenia to Channel coast is the most popular route. Many of the Greek charter boats are delivered to Slovenia and then sailed down as the extra road transport is prohibitive. However, getting a cheap deal going your way is less likely than the return.
Skippered delivery either round the outside or through the canals is likely to be cheaper.
