Transporting a Honda OB

I have to collect a Honda 5HP 4 stroke long shaft OB in my car.

Does it matter which side it is laid on for transport, of so which side please?

Assuming there’s oil in it, it does matter a lot. It should be marked on outboard somewhere which way to lay it down - a sticker usually, but failing that, find the owners manual online, it’ll say in there.

Yes
IIRC tiller side uppermost.
ITYWF it has little feet on the opposite side
If no one confirms download the owners manual and check.
Better kept upright or drain the oil.

As VicS states, my 2.3 has small pads on the 'downside'.
I think it (probably) isn't on the throttle/handle side.

Lay it gearshift lever downwards on the 2 small feet either side of the selector lever. Before starting/using for the first time after that put upright and leave for a couple of hours to allow the oil to 'settle'. Mine laid like this on the floor for a year or so and started 1st pull with no ill effects.

I think you are probably able to guess where this OB originated from. I don't know the exact model, but as per all the advice I will look for any stickers and any feet, and lay on the gearshit side. On some old rags so I don't fill my boot with oil of I get it wrong.

VicS is correct my BF6A uses the same handbook and MUST be transported tiller up with the body resting on the two knobs moulded into the casing on the opposite side.
