I'm looking at buying a trailer for my 25' sportsboat.

I'm not looking at anything too over priced as it will only be used half a dozen times a year, and the boat is likely to be changed sometime next year.
There are 2 makes i know of, Indespension who want over £4500, and SBS who i haven't spoken to direct, but is available through my boat dealer for £2500.
Tha later being a bunk trailer, which i'd probably prefer so as the boat sits more stable during transit. The boat weighs 2.5tons. needs to be double axle with brakes.
Can anyone please recommend any Trailer manufacturers that are worth speaking to.
And once a trailer has been bought, how easy is it to set up for each individual boat?

Many thanks for any Information recieved.

Alistair.

I had a chuffing great SBS trailer for my 25ft RIB and was very pleased with it. Friends have one for a 23ft sportsboat and are similarly happy.

For the dogs danglies in trailers though you have to go to Belgium.....http://www.riba.be

Do a search for Parrymore trailers. They do one for very reasonable money. All the running gear ios normally Knott from germany. I've used them in the past and have been pleased with the service.

There's a secondhand one for sale on the "For Sale" forum. I don't know if it would be any good for you.

I'll certainly second any recommendations for the de Graf trailers. We have one with bunks which carries a 25', 2.25t boat. Very happy with it. Just watch that you give it a good wash down each time it goes in the water otherwise rust will set in very quickly on the brake system; the rest of the trailer is well protected and no sign of rust after 2 years and numerous dunkings.

Owned SBS R4-2500B for 4 years, had to change sealed bearings once & bowden cables once after 4 years!
Immersed probably 40 times & trailed around 3000 miles total.

It was of excellent build quality & never let us down.
But the best part was the price £2000 (4 years ago)

At the time all others were in excess of £3000.
Don't bother with second hand, after spending on refurbishment you could probably be close to the price of a new one.

Give them a call, incidentaly they now make the new fletchers in a factory next door, ideal if you fancy nosing around a boatbuilders.

I purchased a new Rapide and have been very pleased. Prices look a bit expensive but they may be worth talking to.

I had a full roller trailer and it took about 3 hours to set up for my boat. This included several lifts on and off to set up the rollers to miss the strakes and avoid any pressure points as well as adjusting width to make sure boat sits as low as possible and also adjustment of winch post to make sure hitch weight is correct.

It is well worth getting a trailer set up properly to reduce hassle and make towing safer.

I would agree that De Graff are excellent value for money. Also agree with TrailerSailer about washing down. Give Arthur a ring. Very nice bloke. BTW it was me who suggested H1 ring Arthur! (Never did get my bottle of bubbly from him /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
