A previously popular trad boat rally, which hasn't run for a few years, will resume in 2006. Should I post with further information?

Peel Trad Boat Rally 2006

Thanks, guys, and well guessed, Phil.

Yes, Peel Trad Boat is back on this year: 28-30 July at...er, Peel.

The Rally is under new management (now Peel Sailing & Cruising Club) and will be a slightly more modest affair than before. But the usual Peel hospitality will be offered -- free kippers, evening nosh, and so on. As before, registration is also free.

Some of you will know that construction of the new cill is complete, and that Peel inner harbour no longer dries. Construction work on the cill was, of course, the reason that the rally hasn't been held since 2003.

Registration forms will be on the club's website within a few days. (At present there's merely a 'contact' link which will put you in touch with me.) Site address:
www.peelsailingclub.com

Anyone requiring further info, please feel free to PM me.

Aah Peel!
Haven't been to the fest for about 5 years but still brings a smile. As far as I know, the Espanola may well be there this year, though I'm only passing crew on her. I'm hopeful to go if only for the kippers and queenies. Last time I was there, we were dragged off the inner harbour wall by the lifeboat (but they had launched to salvage the charred remains of a viking longship first). The new sill and gate is working now? Hurrah!

Won't be able to make it I'm afraid, but I give Peel AAA+++ rating. Very friendly people and welcoming sailing club (with shower facilities). Early August 2005, think it was you Mac who suggested we call up the Douglas control to get through the gates at 11:00pm - thanks! The breakwater was becoming pretty uncomfortable with that swell ripping round the bay!
