It didn't even get to having a flag halyard made to it ..

The circular fitting which fits round the shroud just pulled straight out of the plastic cleat.

I can see the design idea - but honestly ... unless someone has a magic suggestion - they will be consigned to the 'great idea - but unusable' locker !

Anyone actually fitted these and success ????
 
I needed similar to tidy-up dangly bits of flag string. I got these Pardon our interruption... And they are excellent. Simple but effective. The price was, I thought, a bit dear. BUT they do work, and are a doddle to fit. I assess as good value when I see how much simple plastic bits are in the marine world. Sorry: Usual strange link to eBay!?

Now that's better than the compression fitting rubbish I paid MORE for !!

Its crossing my mind whether I can use a U fastening round the rubbish I have - save wasting them >

Are they 3D printed?

The photos make it appear so.

I see seller says 3D printed ..... probably ASA filament ..
 
I use a rolling hitch on the shroud but first prep the area of the shroud with "rubber glue" and put an extra [third] locking turn on the hitch. lasted 20+ years on my last boat.
 
PLA filament is OK for light duty's as long as plenty infill used when printing ...

Many models for motor mounts specify ASA / PETG .. but I generally just use PLA with 100% infill and all is ok.

I'm going to try printing the various cleat designs I've found online ... see what happens.

Depends on the size and the printer, but usually post process or design in a hexagon hole that fits a suitable nut. If really keen you can get metal insets which are placed with heat.
