Torquay and Brixham

I have visited Brixham a few times and always found the staff friendly and helpful ,even though the showers on the other side of the footpath are rather basic you can always shower on board should you prefer and the berths are quiet and a number of pleasant walks . Sadly the same cannot be said for Torquay, indifferent staff who are really off at times, shortage of gate passes for visitors and we even saw drug dealing in the marina shower block . As for the town we’ll forget any decent restaurants ,shops or really anything to attract a discerning yachtsman in need of sustaining fare. Torquay seems to be a sunseeker parking lot and nothing more really .
If this is true , did you phone the police ,did you report it to the staff, ok decent eateries , Torquay has 11 Michelin places , Southampton has 12 and it is 3times the size of Torquay . So where do you eat.

There are plenty decent eating places in Torquay from tapas to michelin star

There might be a few Michelin stars to feed the sun seekers but it’s not really what the visiting yachtsman wants really -where we ate overlooking the inner basin seemed rather dismal compared to choices in Brixham .it’s not the stars but the sort of venues which you find in say cowes, lymington,Yarmouth,Dartmouth etc. We don’t try the harbourmasters berths but to their credit after they heard we had been directed to an occupied berth by the inefficient MDL staff who then dithered around trying to find a position I’m sure our experience there might have improved the visit. Yes we did report the drug dealers to the office but they seem unsurprised to be honest. If I have missed good choices of eatery in the pilot books of more seasoned sailors then do let on you fans of Torquay.

The Michelin restaurant that you are referring to is "The Elephant".
I'm not a fan of this cuisine but SWMBO and I have been there twice this year.
As you would expect, the food is good but VERY expensive.

On the other side of the bay though, there is one of the best fish restaurants in Devon.
Called Shoals is is walking distance from Brixham Marina.
Here:-
Shoals Restaurant · Shoalstone pool, Berry Head Rd, Brixham TQ5 9AF, Vereinigtes Königreich
The Local Scallops and Monkfish is a meal "to die for".
When visiting Brixham, give it a try.
We live further up the coast towards Teignmouth but we often drive the 40 mins or so to go to Shoals.

I have to agree with you that there is not a Macca ,D near the marina.

Bookmarked thanks. We both love fish and always visit the little fish counter round the back of the fish quay in Brixham, to see what has just been landed. Most of the catch goes off to market, but they keep a good selection back for locals and tourists in the know.

Shoals is a very small restaurant - only a few tables inside - more outside.
It overlooks the natural (sea filling) swimming pool.
Looks a bit of a shack but the food is superb.

My experience of Torquay and Brixham marinas when I've visited is that they are indeed clean and warm, but it's a bit 'public conveniences' with plenty of melamine, rows of toilets separated by a bit of board each, and small showers. A far cry from Premier Marina's typical offering of beautifully finished spacious seperate bathrooms. Premier feels like a five star setup, MDL just doesn't.

I guess it depends what you're used to. Also both MDL sites are pretty limited by their locations so I'm not sure how their facilities could be improved on for space, but if Premier are interested, no doubt they have a plan.
How many peeps actually use the facilities. We look for boating bonuses , easy to get to and places to visit , Ian sure on my todo list will be to shite in a Premier loo before I die.
