But he has been allowed to post albeit under a different user name. Having said that I do think the mod decision (on this occasion) should have been different.

I suppose that there is some sense in discouraging businesses from having user accounts - I'm not aware of any others apart from Nestaway. There are several other members here who do indulge in a fair bit of promotion of their businesses using their private identities - no harm provided they stick to the truth.

I think it's actually better that the posts are from an account that is obviously a business as it gives immediate disclosure.
 
The fact is people in the business have information that the public doesn’t. When some Is willing to share this we should be grateful. So can the mods reconsider? S’il vous plaît
 
As the OP I would agree with the above and Nestaway have been particularly helpful in my decision making and answers to my original questions.

Ian, I would recommend you openly make a new username and continue you to post since the whole community takes value from your advice. The only thing I think a mod can complain about is your username and signature as from Nestaway Boats which they clearly deem as advertising, even if most of us don't see it that way.

Coppercoat have one i think. When I had my boat business i had a link to it in my sig so any bias was signposted,
 
I agree the responses from nestaway have been very informative. If I was buying one i would probably have gone to that company.
If however I were a competitor selling electric outboards i might feel that nestaway were getting free advertising on a very popular boating forum.
I think the moderators made the right call.

Moderators made the wrong decision in my view. It was a very informative and unbiased thread that answered a lot of questions.
