I think you are right. There's a couple of whites on the following chart that I think would be alright - Palm Cream and Mid Century white

I think the Awlgrip guide (as mentioned at the top by pvb) is a good starting point. I am being lent the real deal on Saturday but in the meantime a scanned version suggests that there are some warmer colours in row 2. Row 1 is too blue/grey but off white and oyster white might be good.

Easily confused I know, but how do you exactly match a colour that is on a uv damaged boat, that you don't know what it is unless you get it mixed as I alluded to?

Yes, it seems you may be confused. I'll try this again. The OP wants a shade of white. He can look at boats around him, and might find one which looks the shade of white he'd like for his boat. Then he uses the paint swatch to choose a paint which matches the colour he likes. Then he gets his boat painted that colour.

Try two different colours one each side... Then you can't be fully disappointed lol

I've just added a second photo below of my boat (front) and a sister ship (back) showing the contrast in colour. The boat at the back is pure white but mine is definitely off-white.

I have looked at RAL charts and RAL 9001 is too cream-coloured for my taste.

I am sitting here with a colour chart with over 1000 colours on it. It is an old one from my building days so the BSS codes are out of date. However most mixing companies can look it up
The top picture is S0505-Y10R
the best match i can find for the boat in the bottom picture is S 0500-N
personally i would choose 0502-Y05R which possibly has a very tiny bit of green as the next one up the scale definitely shows green/grey.

Oh alright then! She was sprayed in Awlgrip in 1998 and having checked the colour chart I think it was Fleet White. She is now going to be painted using International Perfection Pro but they can mix to any colour.

Having patrolled the marina on Saturday and Sunday I’ve changed my mind - all warm colours look too yellow for our liking.

So after a complete u-turn I think I want something a bit less obvious. Stark White is the choice because despite the name it’s not! It’s off-white enough to take it off Snow White and flatten it a bit. Sarah’s boom is freshly painted in Snow White and I wouldn’t want that for the topsides.

I’m very excited about the potential for a great uplift. Decks and cockpit to follow next year, along with the mast. She deserves to look much better.

We are just painting Marihøna's topsides, in Jotun Pilot 2. I am fed up with the vaguely creamy off-whites and have gone for a very bold, almost yellow, custardy cream. Not for the faint-hearted and already arousing much comment.,
It suits her lines very well, pix to follow.

At anchor on Saturday evening. You can see the Fleet White I think she carries now and the Snow White boom (YMMV with monitors etc). I had the hull sand blasted last winter before epoxying the hull and changing the antifoul colour so the Dover White antifoul (which goes blue above the waterline) probably suits Stark White. We’re also having the waterline re-levelled as it’s never been right in our ownership.

She'ss been getting gradually more thickly custardy under my ownership, maybe the pics give a hint, but the new shade is traditional Birds custard, made with full -fat milk and stirred with a wooden spoon! But not quite so bright and yelllow.
