Topsides paint colour

So after a complete u-turn I think I want something a bit less obvious. Stark White is the choice because despite the name it’s not! It’s off-white enough to take it off Snow White and flatten it a bit. Sarah’s boom is freshly painted in Snow White and I wouldn’t want that for the topsides.
As you can see from your own pics, there are many more issues at play with white hulls. The time of day affects the colour temperature of light enormously so you hull could look bright white at noon on a sunny day but before dusk (photographers' "golden hour") it could look yellow. Sea colour will cause different shade of colour to be reflected.
Comparing you boat to others may only partly answer these points as, even moored near one another, they will each reflect light differently according to the topsides angle, flare or tumblehome.
I would suggest, as you seem to be saying, close to neutral and a Named Colour which can be matched in the future.

Most surface coatings colours are based on the Panope system, paints, printing inks etc. The colours are recognised internationally. Most paint suppliers can match optically any colour - if you want reproducibility its the way to go. As mentioned the colours look different, depends on the light and on the surface. Pantone includes metallics, pearlescent and fluors

One of the lovely things about owning and caring for a wooden boat -and I mean this- is that every year or two you get to smarten up the topsides with paint , gradually tweaking it to ‘just right’?

For example : For me with limited choices of standard offerings available at that time I found half white and half cream looked great , offsetting the teak work
BUT I also found that a more subtle finish was half undercoat ( white ) mixed with half gloss ( cream)
On GRP the prep work has to be VERY good indeed to cope with the inherent shininess of 2 pack polyurethanes
The original molds may not have been that great , or taken off a wooden plug ( or boat!) and then years of hard useage may create hard spots in the way of bulkheads and such..

Some of the more solid colours do seem to show flaws more than the whites , bright blues come to mind particularly ..
The OP is going to have such a smart boat ??

When the mast is done in white to match the boom, that really really seems to take things to another level too?
