Mike,

It's one of those "Straight to DVD" or "Made to make Clarkson loads of cash" jobs under the Top Gear brand that I believe Clarkson has a stake in. So it won't be on TV over Christmas unless someone buys it for you. Hopefully it'll turn up in my Christmas stocking and I'll probably be sufficiently pi55ed to have forgotten the Riva spoiler (thanks MapisM)! seems a bit of a same to watch it on Youtube now (even for a tightwad like me).

Mmm, in retrospect this could be good news. Just as the SWMBO and MIL are settling down for the Xmas edition of Eastenders, I can announce that it's time to watch that TG video they bought me for Xmas. They couldn't refuse, could they? How long is it? Will I be able to make it last for Corrie as well?

Pour two large glasses of sherry and administer to SWMBO & MIL head to the other room under proviso...I'm off to watch my TG crimbo dvd....watch once then press repeat....exit house head to pub get slaughtered come home at T time sneek back into the other room turn off dvd exit room to demand Turkey sarnies! a simple plan.

I should have described it as "Straight to Clarkson's wallet".

You're joking! I might as well top myself now. The SWMBO announced in passing last night that her mother was coming to stay for a 'few days' over Christmas and I consoled myself with the fact that at least the Top Gear special on TV would be something to lift my utter gloom. Can anyone clear this up? Is the TG Xmas special on TV or not over Xmas?

You could threaten to set fire to her hotel ;)

Mike, sorry to go OT, but what was the outcome of the hotel insurance issue?
Er, without going into too much detail we insured it in her name and that's as much as I'm going to say!

Gee, thanks Mapism for telling us the ending and for spoiling the whole show. Its the only thing I watch at Christmas (apart from the Queen's speech of course)
I'll probably be sufficiently pi55ed to have forgotten the Riva spoiler (thanks MapisM)!
LOL, sorry folks, but trust me, the plot doesn't really matter one iota, anywhere in the whole video.
Actually, as others said, the conclusion is by far the worst part of it - regardless of what RH and JC choose as their favourite car.
Oh, and also regardless of the fact that also RH choice is for some Italian stuff, just to spoil it a bit further, but not completely! :D

Crikey, next you'll be telling us that Santa Claus doesn't exist!

Hi Al. IIRC one way is to get the movie up on YouTube, then in the url field at top of your browser you modify the url by typing/inserting "kiss" straight after the "www." and before the "youtube", then hit return, and follow download instructions

There might be other ways too

Just watched it .
Its great can identify the whole CdA scene and spotted a few dreadful continuity issues cars filmed going in different directions round diff cap,s ( but you have to an anorach) these do not detract from entertainment .
Could have done Col d Torino a lot better -missed best parts out - maybe it rained? or no copter that day ?
Been up / down that a few times .,depends on time of day and month re " tourist " traffic .
Boat shots for us ( forum members) -great but I little under done around St Trop -guess its a car show .
Maybe next time " lunch boat" or somthing from Overmarine ie a Manguster 165 -going full chat @ 45 knots to Pampolone for ...... well lunch
( it's a big Wally hired /day ) .
Overall I think having not seen many I ,d say a great piece of work for petrol heads and lads interested in all things mechanical with loads of humorous banter.Ave punter won't take the DVD back for a refund .

Is it possible to download it directly from Youtube directly onto an iPad?
Not sure about direct download to the iPad, and I never tried the method jfm mentioned, either.
But there are specific browser add-ons, which you can download for free, that give you the option to download any YT video instead of just seeing it.
The "RealPlayer Downloader" is possibly the most popular, but there are others, depending also on which browser you are using.

PS: fwiw, the MP4 file which I downloaded from my Win8 PC runs just fine also on swmbo's MacBook and iPad.
And I can also stream it to the TV with iTunes, via Apple TV.
