The whole movie is now on YouTube in HD. Just put " top gear perfect road trip" into the youtube search box and you'll see a full length 1hr 20+ minutes movie right at the top

Got a couple of hours in the TAM lounge at São Paulo, so will see if the wifi is up to it :)

Hi JFM.....watched it, LOVED IT !!!!!!!!!!!!........... had a chuckle at the flybridge scatter cushions trying to "takeoff" over the stern !!!

I'm surprised this is so widely available before its been shown on telly. An observation not a complaint.

I don't think this will be shown on TV. It's not a Top Gear episode, it's one of Jeremy Clarkson's DVD's he puts out separately (although clearly it's under the same "umbrella").

Having just shelled out £15 for the Blu Ray version, it's a great watch, but a bit miffed I could have just logged on to youtube. It's not the sort of thing you'd watch again and again (unless it was your boat possibly! :D )

Yup, I guess I would be, too.
In hindsight, I should thank BBC for not making it available outside UK iTunes store... :D
Btw, also from Youtube you can download it anyway, and look at it whenever you want.
Just finished with the 720p version, though I'm not sure for how long I'll keep all the 1.5 Gb of it on my PC.

Nice video, overall.
A couple of JC sentences get my vote as memorable quotes:
1) the description of Monaco as a place where...
"Men... get into their cars, that they bought using money they should have paid in tax, and then spend all day driving round and round and round in circles."
2) the final decision on his favourite car as...
"The Riva Aquarama. That's what I'd use everyday."

I've always thought that Maugham's famous characterisation of the Cote d'Azur as "a sunny place for shady people" was a slightly sweeping generalisation.

Re Clarkson, one of the great joys of Sunday morning in the UK used to be settling down to the Sunday Times' two splendidly splenetic columnists, Jeremy Clarkson and Michael Winner - both of whom could actually write. Sadly, Michael Winner is no longer with us.

Agreed, but JC statement above was specifically related to the Principauté, rather than the CdA in general... ;)

TBH I had always thought Maugham's quote was about Monahco (as he would probably have said). But I checked before posting and found that it was more general than I had thought.

Gee, thanks Mapism for telling us the ending and for spoiling the whole show. Its the only thing I watch at Christmas (apart from the Queen's speech of course)

Mike, I get the impression it's one of those not made for TV programmes! and only available to buy on disc etc....or free on youtube now as we all know!
I could be wrong though....

You're joking! I might as well top myself now. The SWMBO announced in passing last night that her mother was coming to stay for a 'few days' over Christmas and I consoled myself with the fact that at least the Top Gear special on TV would be something to lift my utter gloom. Can anyone clear this up? Is the TG Xmas special on TV or not over Xmas?

There's always the HS2 report to read :D
