JFM, can I ask why the stainless head-rests?

Haha, you like that pic (strangely compressed in the vertical sense??) because it shows your kahlenbergs. They have been the hit of the summer btw - much loud tooting at end of firework displays and the Cannes Boat Show. They have also been used a few times in proper navigation. If I were doing another boat right now these would definitely be on my kit list.

The headrests thing was just a free choice Toby. The seat-maker can just as easily make the seats with a cushioned headrest or with the s/s hoops. I much prefer the latter only because they serve as valuable grab handles at sea and I have no use for a cushion because I find I don't lean back and rest my head on the headrest when driving on the flybridge. Obviously whiplash risk isn't a factor, unlike in a car :-)

I had same on my last 2 boats and am mind-made-up that this is the best answer for me. They are such good grab handles

I have cushioned headrests downstairs, in contrast, because I have no use of a grab handle there and do lean back and half snooze on long passages. These are special chairs, not the standard Sq78 chairs

+ another, & how did Nick Barke get in on the act ! Jammy Git :p

Seahope, JC likes Fairlines and when they devised this part of the plot he asked the program producers to find a Fairline, not any boat. The producers asked Fairline if they could borrow the boat, and a photographer chase boat, and Fairline asked me and A+K who own the Sq58 you can see in the film

R'duck, Nick knows JC because JC has long toyed with idea of buying a boat and loves boats generally. Nick/Essexboatyards will happily sell him one any time he decides to buy one, of course! Nick was part of the early conversation with the producers and Fairline, when the producers first asked for help getting boats, so Nick has been in on this from the beginning.

Am I correct in thinking that JC nearly bought a T40 or T43 perhaps 10 years ago?
A Targa 48 classic, I heard, but that's a bit tittle tattlish and could easily be wrong. Also I think he borrowed a Targa 47 from essexboatyards, by coincidence the one that used to belong to A+K before they bought the Sq58 seen on this new Top Gear show, for some event in London but I've forgotten what. Olympics maybe? Or that big car show in the O2? Dunno

In 2009 I got a call (I think from essexboatyards but I don't remember well) asking if JC could charter my then brand new Sq58 for his holidays. He wanted it in Corfu which was too far so I declined. He ended up on a s'seeker 'hattan iirc that was sourced locally - there's a 52 or 60 hattan that is listed for charter there

He definitely likes Fairlines - see here for example http://www.perthnow.com.au/entertai...r-top-gear-stars/story-e6frg30l-1226218995064

He also refers to boats here :D

I have. Already been to play ice hockey, had three teeth fixed (not related to the first, I hasten to add) and had the scuba tanks filled for tomorrow, so it's about time to watch a boat vid :)
