Does anybody know if they doing any dredging in the marina this winter as stayed there last May children loved but we were sitting on the bottom . Lead to believe that there was ment to be 1.5 m of water ..

Not sure about more dredging, though it was rumoured that there would be, but there is definitely 1.5m in some areas of the marina at low water. Some areas definitely don't though, like much of G pontoon.. A conversation with Finn (sp?) the manager would help.
The mud is soft though!

I am there now. No sign of a dredger. At least 75% of the berths in the marina are occupied. Many of the berths on G (in the southern corner of the marina) are dry but every other boat i can see is either floating or on its marks with the keel in the soft mud which is perfectly acceptable as you can't get out anyway.

I've never understood the appeal of Tollesbury Marina. It has dreadful access, rudimentary yard facilities, tedious road access, and isn't at all cheap. I know a lot of people who've moved out of it.

I rather like the place. If you are a bertholder than fair comment then its a bit of a drag planning any cruises or hopping in and out for a crafty day sailing. However as a place to visit its fine you do have to get off your lazy bottom to plan tides but hey ho some of us could do with dusting the books out rather than pressing buttons. Staff are as good as u can get and food in the club/pub fine. Upper prices but good quality when we have been. Bloody good swimming pool and tennis courts. Good walks if you want a bit of fresh air or a dog walker. The marina is reasonablly full so as many are going there as leaving. Its perhaps a place that you either stay or happy you gave it a go. No link to the place I keep my old tub 8 miles up the river Orwell through a blooming lock! Only takes me two hours to get to open sea though.

Nights are drawing out thank goodness. Happy boat prep everyone.

We spent one season there, and loved the location, the atmosphere and the friendly neighbours, from that side it's a lovely place. We left because it was even more restrictive than expected, the crunch came after a damp cold passage back from the airshow and we sat outside until 2230 waiting for the tide. We now pay more at SYH but sail whenever we choose. It all depends what you want, many love the ambience and don't day sail so it works well, it was not for us but we did try, water depth inside never worried us and with 1.4 metres we never sat in the mud.

I guess we must of had a bad spot hopefully be better this year ,children love the pool and lake .

And the Tollesbury free wifi worked well when i visted 2 days ago, unlike the wifi at Brightlingsea waterside marina and MDL Woolverstone marina where i am now. Both of these were out of action and the staff did not know for how long.

I've got no problem with kids on boats, I'm just observing that if the key attraction of Tollesbury Marina is a pool, there are much cheaper places to visit!

Yes true but keeping the children amused is a big part of enjoyable boating for us and all other boat owners with children .
And to think I only wanted to ask about dregging ..
