To launch or not to launch?

Re: Green oldgit

Blimey TCM.Grumpy or what.Aha it must have just dawned on you that my mate Tony B. will be incharge for ...well lets say at least the next 7 years.
Anyway back to the matter in hand.A very green and mildewy oldgit I am indeed.Still evidence from not a few marinas suggests that many"status only" boats are now turning a shade of mould green and casual observation would appear to confirm that the bigger the boat the less it moves. My point is, may be better to have not quite so posh boat that will not give you deprecation wobblies and you can afford to run when that "fleeting joy" has long long gone. and the bills start arriving. If owning something new gives a buzz fine. Some find that buzz just being on water and find a used boat just fits the bill nicely with out having to take a hit on the vat etc etc..

And here is the weekend weather..

Re: Planet earth calling!!!

How on earth does enjoying boating equate to the charitable donation of my boat to you.I'm no more likely to do that, than to give you a sizeable sum of money for no apparent reason...

...and I can answer No to your question. Not bankrupt, and don't need unwanted sales calls. Bought boat at boat show for cash on a whim. Depreciation never came in to it, didn't do any spreadsheets, just liked the way it looked and the specs, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. Just decided that boating would be nice way of relaxing and enjoying myself. Get a huge buzz out of being by the sea, the more isolated the better. Thought boating would be even better, and it is.

Re: Planet earth calling!!!

Did the same with a yacht. Never regretted it. Do'nt matter to me if its a MB or a sailboat as long as it floats!

Re: who\'s BrendanS calling a Rich Git?

Dithering are you ? Edited the title before I had chance to answer /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Thought highly of you until your exchange with oldgit. Why accuse him of envy for a post pointing out the obvious?

If cap fits, wear it with pride?

<<<Your post seems to display not a little envy, oldgit. Has it not occurred to you that you are not the focus, the reason for the actions of other people. They don't buy a new car to piss you off, oldgit. They buy a new car or boat cos they want one. They want a new car, for example, and want it so much that they rush out and take delivery at the earliest possible moment- midnight! There's nobody to see it at midnight...except the curtina-flicking oldgit? "He's gone and got a new car, mother! Just to piss me off I'll bet!..."

Suspect that boatowners divide between those who simply enjoy boating and the fleeting joy of a new toy....and the miserable and not-much-fun types who've never had a new car or new boat and never will cos neither their boss nor others can stand them but they're quite determined that they are not missing out on anything at all, when they are, and their unpleasant envy bars them from celebrating the jumping excitement of somebody else's good fortune.>>>

I'm lucky, I can afford to buy a new boat, or a new car if the desire took me. Doesn't make me insensitive to those that can't afford new boat nor car.

whisper: GET 2003 BUILD CERTIFICATE

i'm, all for a rational conv....hence use boat immediately BUT ask for buuild certificate dated 2003. Not surwe why thisis so contentious. Our boat traded for 250k, when previous year boats were around £235k. It's not an issue of not enjoying the boat, nor not being able to affird it etc, just common sense. Bored now.
