Green oldgit
Of course, i think he should go out on it immediately.
But nonetheless, it seems dealers will dekliver a boat asap unless instructed otherwise and for a boat that is so close to New Year, i'd make the call to ensure the build cert is dated january.
It is not peculiar nor abnormal to wonder how others will view the boat when the time comes round for resale. It's not for no reason that items are priced just below "barrier" prices, so they are £9.95 and so on. Will it make a difference if the boat/car or whatever is dated 1979 instead of 1980? Will it make a difference that young children now will have been born in the PREVIOUS CENTURY sixty years hence. Yes, of course.
Your post seems to display not a little envy, oldgit. Has it not occurred to you that you are not the focus, the reason for the actions of other people. They don't buy a new car to piss you off, oldgit. They buy a new car or boat cos they want one. They want a new car, for example, and want it so much that they rush out and take delivery at the earliest possible moment- midnight! There's nobody to see it at midnight...except the curtina-flicking oldgit? "He's gone and got a new car, mother! Just to piss me off I'll bet!..."
Suspect that boatowners divide between those who simply enjoy boating and the fleeting joy of a new toy....and the miserable and not-much-fun types who've never had a new car or new boat and never will cos neither their boss nor others can stand them but they're quite determined that they are not missing out on anything at all, when they are, and their unpleasant envy bars them from celebrating the jumping excitement of somebody else's good fortune.
