The MCA in Aberdeen operate a collection service in a Remote location one a month, which is more or less useless.

We took our old ones to Cruden Bay Coastguard Rescue Service a couple of years ago, which I suspect is the "remote location" you mention.

They don't make it easy for you - as you say, it is only once a month, and you have to make an appointment rather than just turning up, but once you are there, they couldn't have been more friendly and helpful - a cup of tea, a tour of the base, and a friendly chat, so somehow it seemed worth it. I think they are quite keen to see folk.

And the trip there is through some pleasant countryside.

If I worked in Cruden Bay I'd be glad of visitors as well; it's in the middle of nowhere!
