As most people already know the MCA is taking (TEP's), but there are restrictions.
due to safety implications staff at various MRCC's have been trained to handle/receive TEP's this is a HSE requirement.
The MRCC's designated to take TEP's are on the pamphlet recently distributed by the MCA.
You must phone first to make an appointement and find out the arrangements in place at the MRCC you make contact with.
The MRCC at Lee on Solent are trying to organise days for people to hand TEP's in, as you can imagine this is a bit difficult at this time of year (summer) espescially at the weekend.
And dont forget the staff in the Ops room (the number you call for appointments) are there to help you they are acting upon policy put in place by MCA, over recent months the amount of verbal abuse has escalated - dont shoot the messenger!!.
The MCA doesnt have a legal obligation to take TEP's (free of charge) they are trying make good a bad situation so please take this into account when talking to the men and women who at the end of the day are trying to help

TEPs

As I'm based well inland access to MCA is limited so called local fire service (in Bradford, Yorks) and they have a station designated to handle pyrotechnics, just delivered them there, v ehlpful & no fuss. Can only presume other fire services do same thing

TEPs

Called the Liverpool operation 3 weeks ago and was told that their store had not even been started being built and so had no place to put them. It was expected to be some time before before they would be ready to accept flares.

Well, I had a ferckle in the back of the locker last week & found some of mine that were over 20 years old!

Still, I reckon they'll be safe enough to stay where they are for a few more months while HMCG sort themselves out. No signs of corrosion on them, altho the Gothic font used for the instructions was hard to read. :D

The problem is the instructions,

Ut incendia aufero substructio quod intorqueo campester

does not help much nowadays.
