Tide-clock phone app

Lately I've found myself Googling high tide daily. I'd like a conventional analogue tide-clock, but I've read mixed reviews of them.

It's hard to believe that each tide's time/height figures (tiny and hard to find in a conventional tide-table) cannot be programmed to appear clearly in a quick-reference phone app, based on location.

The only one of these I've tried was called Tides Near Me. In spite of a general thumbs-up from users, it has made many, laughably dim-witted mistakes in just a few days - confusing high tide with moonrise time, and saying LW would be 30 minutes before HW. And it doesn't show tide-heights. Can data which are well-known far in advance, be so hard to display when a phone-user clicks to connect?

Does anybody recommend any alternatives?

I like Absolute Tides, largely because it works offline. It also has several useful features including tidal streams.

There is an annual charge, 2-3 pounds I think.

I've been using Tide7 for donkeys years. I think it cost about £1.50 and I've never had to pay additional subscription.

It's pretty basic though.

Secondary port coverage is excellent.

I've never noticed any discrepancy between it and Admiralty Total Tide which is a little bit more than £1.50

Me too! :) Loads up 7 days at a time for offline use...

Gentlemen, thanks for all these suggestions.

My favourite tide app by far is imray tides planner

I tried this, Steve...obviously Imray is a trusted name. The app appears to give the option to select a home port or ports...but...

...in spite of steady 4G and location switched on, the screen never moves on to allow inputting a home-port. That drop-down option (top right) doesn't do anything. Is it my error?

Actually the Imray app's use of the phone's GPS has uploaded Southampton which is near enough. But I'm wondering why the curve shown, doesn't reflect Southampton's double high water, with a two-hour peak period close to HW...

...which is below reflected by my more usual, not very handy, basic but reliable Google tide-enquiry, which indicates the tide topping out at or below 4m for two hours this evening, rather than a brief peak above four metres, suggested by Imray...

But I know I'm slow to learn the functionality of phone apps; I usually seek a piece of information which is irritatingly obscured by the amount of other unsolicited data which the software is keen to boast. I'll persist with Imray, and try a few others too. :encouragement:

Just checked it shows multiple high waters for cal shot castle for example
