Hello, I want to remove worn threadmaster on my decks and replace by a few coats of Internationals Interdeck Non Skid Deck coating, anyone who knows if it is just as good?

Hi!

You are effectively comparing an apple with a banana! Treadmaster is an excellent, very hard wearing and expensive covering, that will last many years without needing other than general cleaning. International's deck paint, which I use myself (where I don't have Treadmaster) is what it says - a paint. It is cholinated rubber based and contains small particles of pumice that provide the non-slip element. It will last, depending on use, for 2-3 seasons, but then loses the majority of it's non-slip capabilities. But then it's an easy job to thoroughly clean the old paint, and paint on a new coat. Much cheaper than Treadmaster too!

I personally prefer the main decks to be painted (I get a nice 'new' looking deck every two years!) because it's much kinder on the feet, and we tend to sail in the warmer areas where bare feet are the norm.

I have never removed Treadmaster, but a friend has, and it was a hell of job! He wanted to switch to deck paint, but it took a huge amount of work to get the old glue etc off and the decks sanded smooth enough to paint.

Unless your Treadmaster is badly worn/damaged, why not think about painting it with Treadmaster's own paint which is specially formulated to adhere to and renovate their product.

Good luck with whichever route you decide.

I'm considering the same problem, treadmaster replacement - in keeping with boat, looks nice, vs. something else like paint - nicer to bare feet.

There's a kind of leisure pattern treadmaster but then that wouldn't look right.

There is another (cheaper) tread master type decking called TechTred. Aladdins Cave sell it at about £25 a sheet (same size as Tread Master). Usually advertised in their adverts in PBO.
