My late father-in-law said that if he ever had to name another boat she would be called Ildico after the last wife of Attila the Hun - Attila died on his wedding night.
that is what I call an attempt at balanceOK then. What about Cicisbeo?
See your all at it now ... good name for a boat or a stripper...What about Strumpet or Floozy?
There was a beautiful classic yacht of about 60 ft at Port Leucate 10 years or so ago gradually rotting away which was called Courtesan. If you want a genteel word for Harlot, how about Courtesan?
She was, according to Mr G, Cora Pearl. That would make a nice name, if a little obscure. I’m not overly concerned about obscurity, and many boats have a private joke contained within, such as as ‘Ruthless’, as in “his first wife was called Ruth”. My own boat is called ‘Shifta’ which is a bandit in Ethiopia and East Africa. It doesn’t matter to me that most people don’t get it, though we have had the occasional odd look from ex-colonial types. How about 'A Grand Horizontal' ? Slight play on the subject and horizons.
I though 'shifta' was an adjustable spanner. She was, according to Mr G, Cora Pearl. That would make a nice name, if a little obscure. I remember as a youngster seeing a middle-aged blonde driving around in an expensive looking convertible with the vanity plate WAS HIS....such as as ‘Ruthless’, as in “his first wife was called Ruth”.
With Bajansailor back in 1987 we came across a Ron Holland maxi at Rodney Bay.I remember as a youngster seeing a middle-aged blonde driving around in an expensive looking convertible with the vanity plate WAS HIS.
Don't be surprised if you get strange looks from Paddys as well - shift was a frequently used slang for make-out or shag although it may no longer be commonly used. She was, according to Mr G, Cora Pearl.
