Those of you with new(ish) Beta Engines......

The engines you refer to are not made by Beta Marine - The engines are Kubota so any agricultural supplier or plant parts place should be able to supply fuel and oil filters - engine anodes are another thing. Beta merely "marinise" the engines.

Not sure if this invalidates the Beta warranty though..... for sure we will go this route when out of warranty but having been stung by Land Rover for something similar we are wary of fitting non original parts while in warranty. Not sure if Beta would class using Kubota parts as a reason to void the warranty, however silly it may sound.

The silverline warranty with my Nanni actually covered bugger all if you take time to read the exclusions.
I installed it but wasnt qualified to do a simple oil change.
i am the only person to service my engine in 1100 hrs
I am now awaiting delivery an exhaust injection elbow. The main dealer hasnt got any in stock, neither has anybody else for that matter :disgust:

Where do you buy service parts, particularly to avoid invalidating the warranty?

Cheers

Service parts requirements are minimal, particularly in relation to the £5000+ your new engine has cost you. Why try and save a few pennies on the 2 filters required each year?

In my experience (Beta 20hp/2006) almost all the typical service parts (fuel and air filters, heat exchanger O-rings, zinc anode, alternator belt, impeller etc) are specific to the marinization – not the base engine.
Only the oil filter, because it sits on the engine block, is specified by Kubota.
I have found the Nanni equivalent to fit and so would probably a filter from any source that supplies equipment using the same base engine.

I have used this company for service parts and had no troubles:

The filters are not marked "beta", though.

The paperwork which came with our new Beta specifically says that genuine Beta or Kubota filters must be used to maintain the warrantee. I buy from TS Marine who are a Beta agent, but that is because they are based at universal marina, where we keep the boat, so no delivery charges. An oil filter is £8 + vat. Once the engine is 3 yrs old, I'll almost certainly switch to filters from the local motor factors.....

Do Beta & Kubota actually manufacture fliters.
Beta would be hard pushed to reject a claim with Crossland filters fitted

interestingly enough i also have a new beta 35 and went to give it its first oil change 2 weeks ago.
I bought the spares pack with the engine so that I could at least argue the case in the event of a warranty claim
When i took off the oil filter I found it was a smaller diameter to the one they had supplied as a spare and it wouldn't fit as it clashed with the hose above

Had to go out and get an equal replacement and need to write to them to record the facts and send them some photos!

Make sure you check the anode BTW mine had almost disappeared

I will try and use BETA parts but at times I wont be able to! The fuel filter changeover interval is circa 750 hours! so I can't see the point in scrimping

that is 7 yrs for me, i change mine annually

My new Beta engine is to my surprise now 10 years old. I paid the Beta price for the first 2 years then thought why? No apparent problems since going generic.
