THOSE OF US WITH BOATS IN THE MED

Lest all stay positive and hope for the best and if we can share any news on the lockdown restrictions in the Med that will be great, i am stuck in France but just 10 miles from Italy so I may have a glimmer of hope to move to Italy if I can get into France that is and Italy is not also shut.

I have been following Spain mainland closely as I have a house there and it looks like that some are now able to work as already said, will update if I hear any more.

As of today Spanish regulations. 14/04/2020

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE BACK AND WHAT IS STILL NOT PERMITTED TOMORROW (That's today..)?
After the end of the economic hibernation of non essential activities on April 9, tomorrow sees the return to the initial conditions of the state of alarm declared on march 14, which ordered social isolation, restricted movement, and determined which activities would cease to take place and which were restricted to keep the population safe.
The royal ordinance protects sanitary activities, security and telecommunications, customs, supply and distribution of staple food and products, the supply of electricity and products derivative of petroleum and natural gas.
It also supports indispensable services to auxiliary companies and industries- components, cleaning, vigilance and security, Maintenance and urgent breakdowns and the transport of people and merchandise- necessary for the functioning of the aforementioned activities. Also the collection of garbage and the supply of water.
Public transport is protected, although subject to restrictions in offer. Starting today, Facemasks will be distributed for workers to use.
Justice office workers and all related services to this sector will keep their activity according to the established essential services.

COMMERCE
Bars and restaurant ion establishments continue to be banned- only delivery services are allowed-, clubs, pubs, cultural facilities, entertainment, sports facilities, attraction parks and auditoriums.
The prohibition of celebrations, parades, processions, popular festivities and manifestations in open establishments or public venues continue to be banned.
Commerce which activity are allowed by the Royal Ordinance are: food shops,, pharmacies, medical centres, opticians, orthopaedic shops, press and office supplies, tobacco shops, gas stations, animal companionship food and technology shops, internet commerce and laundromats.
In the case of hair stylists, only home service is allowed to guarantee the attention and hygiene of the most vulnerable.
Media and the news can continue their activity.
The state of alarm and confinement will therefore continueSpanish residents will be able to leave their homes only to go to work and get supplies (food and medication). This is extended, at least, until April 26.
Health Minister Salvador Illa has indicated that Spain still isn’t in the deescalation phase of the measures adopted on march 14, when the state of alarm was declared. Therefore, confinement continues with the closing of educational centres, entertainment establishments and all the social distancing prevention measures must continue to be observed.
RECOVERY OF THE HOURS
After expiration of the recoverable paid permit approved by the government, workers will owe the hours of the 8 working days not worked.
However, people who were working remotely from home, those object of an ERTE, people in an incapacitated condition or in a maternity or paternity leave and workers of essential services will be exempt from this by Royal Ordinance.
The recovery of the hours of the 8 working days can be made effective starting on the next day the state of alarm is over until December 31 2020; although it requires previous negotiations in a consultation period between the company and the legal representation of the workers, which will have a maximum duration of seven days.

FACE MASKS AND THE WASHING OF UNIFORMS
Means of transportation that translate into the gathering of people must be avoided.
In the case of using cars, cleaning measure must be extreme and avoid that there is more than one person per row of seats.
Bus, metro or train journeys interpersonal distance is to be observed between travellers, and the general guidelines recommend the use of “hygienic” (not medical) face masks.
Regarding uniforms, these must be bagged and closed off and transported to their usual washing point. A full washing cycle of 60ºC to 90ºC is recommended.

ACTIONS AT WORK CENTERS: SCALE SCHEDULES AND LIMIT Nº OF WORKERS PER SHIFT
At the work place, the governmentalvises employees keep the interpersonal distance of two meters.
In the case of companies or establishments open to the public measure to minimise contact between employees and the public must be implemented.
To do this the government suggests: Limiting maximum capacity , enabling access controls or facilitating individual protection equipment when risks cannot be avoided.
When the work space doesn’t allow for the personal distance to be kept in the ordinary shifts, work schedules will have to be modified to be scaled within possibility. This will also reduce crowding in public transport.
Reinforced cleaning and hygiene tasks will have to be done on a daily basis and sufficient hygienic and protection material must be provided to prevent contagions among workers.
Companies must facilitate remote or low risk working conditions. Likewise, the government asks for protection equipment not to be shared or to maximise hygiene in the event the previous is not possible. They also recommend daily ventilation of the facilities and to reinforce cleaning tasks in all workstations.

REINFORCEMENT IN THE FREQUENCY OF URBAN TRANSPORT.
The government will reinforce the frequency of public transport to avoid conglomeration and comply with the social distancing norms. It will also approve a protocol to avoid conglomeration through megaphone of the security agents.
In a nutshell, we go back to the transport ordinance of march 24. Interurban, long-distance services were reduced 70%. And, in urban services, each community and city hall will be able to establish the frequencies on the basis of demand.

Apparently a French judge has ordered Amazon to only deliver essential items. This is going to leave a lot of people with a lot of problems

sounds slightly idiotic, and how is it going to be policed? ask invoices of goods delivered?
I’m not actually sure but because the ruling was on behalf of the Amazon employees I guess they will be grassed on by the staff

Looks like work starting again in Italy on Monday. I am having some mechanical stuff done that was halted but am told it will restart. that is a relief. Now the scramble to get boats lifted. I can only imagine if they allow us all back on the boats in July or August that the Med will look like spaghetti junction on a bad day.

So, med boaters, what's your latest view on when you think you might be able to next get out to the boat?

I'm kind of hoping that my July trip to majorca might go ahead, but I'm not thinking I will be able to get out earlier than that. Even then July might be a bit early.

If you are under sixty then I think your timeline is good

We're certainly hoping to get the 6 weeks summer holidays on the boat from mid July - assuming that the kids haven't driven us insane, and we're not in jail. Half term flights to NCE were cancelled last week.

Oils dropped today to 1 $ / barrel according to CH 4 news ........ :) as I said earlier that must eventually filter down to marina diesel .
Realise they have to empty what they have already in the tanks .......buts it’s just a matter of time there might be a fuel bonanza by Sept if the “first wave “ back gobble up marina stocks .

Of course long term the economies and demand will recover but C19 ain’t going away any time soon so the back end in the Med season could be great .
Hopefully the low oil price will linger over into 2021 season .

July hopefully to start ? In Liguria.

I got an email today from my marina in Italy saying they are getting started up again slowly but will start working on boats - anti fouling, anodes etc. The email was cautiously optimistic for the summer season. Sadly I am increasingly of the view that in the UK we will still be in a shambles with various ministers opining on whether they have cancelled their holidays and what we should all be doing and still talking about a hundred conditions to ease the lockdown!! We may also not have an air fleet so driving may be the only hope!!! If anyone will allow us in that is.

I doubt it's going to be easy one way or another.
Looking from our case, Greece will be in shambles if they don't open up and accept tourists. Are they going to impose strict rules? what are going to be the views of locals not able to make a living?
I'm afraid it's going to be the Northern countries setting up the rules (as usual) and maybe they are going to accept travelling (or most importantly receiving you back home afterwards without new quarantine sessions...)

we shall see in a month or so I recon.
