Those electric conversion toilets are not worth it

Reading this thread shows how opinions differ on whats best. Do any of these electric toilets have manual as well?
Im going to ruin it now by mentioning the baby blake.. but there is a relevance as the blake can now be electrified while still retaining its manual function , but at an eye watering price..
I truly would appreciate a model that let's you use both at the same time. A manual back up incase the electric one just packs it up midflush.

@Chiara’s slave … Was it you with the peach stone?
I don’t think so. Besides, such things would pass unnoticed though our heads.

Re motor boats and posh heads, there was, in the 1970s a boat in the then new Brighton marina that had a collection of south American Spanish gold coins, and the words ‘you’re sitting on a fortune’ cast into a clear perspex look seat. It’s possible they’d missed the apostrophe, I’m not sure.

Well, that would be the Jabsco electric conversion. It uses the same base as the manual one, so in case of failure you could just pop it off and replace with the manual pump. 5 minute job.

But there's no reason why a decent electric toilet will "just pack it up in midflush". They are as reliable as anything else on board. Do you have a hand pump for your pressure water supply, in case your water pump "packs up" in mid-shower? I don't (but I carry a complete spare pump).

This is an amazing piece of steam-punk engineering. A real work of art. And priced as one, too --£8 238 🙀 . But there's a lot to like about the design -- the huge pump cylinder, the fully exposed discharge pipe . . . Screenshot 2025-09-10 144355.png

My first boat had one. A complete piece of junk. They leak from every joint. From a bygone era.

Not what I mean. That is a messy job, especially if something failed to work. I meant a system that uses both systems at the same time without swapping. But yeah, apparently there is a system like that.

Bubble bursting aside ,no other toilet lasts a life time.. no plastic, just bronze, mahogany (seat) porcelain and seals.
They used to have seals like traditional stern gland packing with greaser but nowadays they are silicon type seals.
They are a love or hate item. They are also available in different colours now 😳

I purchases a full rebuild kit for mine. It didn't make much difference
